Duchess

9/13/11 Update:

"Duchess of Korea... 1 Year Later!"

Where would my (our) Little Duchess be if not for this rescue group?

Months ago, my husband and I donated to the cause of bringing this little red afghan here from a Korean Shelter. She was a mess - so matted she couldn't walk straight, she was covered in ticks all over her little body and she was not socialized. Sandy Blount informed our rescue group about her and pictures were sent around. Our wonderful group started to pool their resources. Sandy spent hours and hours and hours speaking with them back in Korea and convincing them to let Duchess go. This little girl, originally called 'SoonShimmi" became the Duchess of Korea and was sent here last September. She stayed with her foster mommy, Sandy Blount, while her health was taken care of, on medicine for the problems caused by the ticks and finally ready for adoption in February. We had been following everything Sandy had been telling us about Duchess over the months.

I panicked when Sandy said she might have a place for her and called right away. The rest is history. So the Vegas Wilson's, who have always had 2 afghans, only ever wanted 2 afghans, never had plans to have more than 2 afghans, got their 3rd afghan - DUCHESS.  And we can't imagine life without her. Our 'Terrific Trio' light up our lives, they just manage to fit on our bed and leave a little corner for my husband and I, they are even willing to share our food with them, they will take us for rides and will even walk us. They are very good to us and just WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT THIS RESCUE GROUP!!!!!

Thank you all for helping Duchess find her way into our family,
The Wilson's

9/21/10 Update:

Duchess arrived in the United States on 9/8/10!!! She can now start to live the life she so deserves!

AHRSC would like to thank all the wonderful people who donated funds to get her here...and everyone else who put in so much time and effort to help Duchess start a new life.  None of this would have been possible without you all. Duchess is adjusting very well as you can see.  She is very lucky to have such a big fan club.

Here is the first photo of her when the forklift put her crate in the van.....and our first glimpse of "The Duchess of Korea"....   look at those big pretty eyes.

At first sight she wagged her tail and took a treat.

First picture of our clean girl!!!!!   She looks happy now!!!

We had to take this picture in honor of Carol and Claudia from the Borzoi rescue who helped so much in getting Duchess here!!!!!

Happy girl!   I think we are making progress today!

Her first COUCH picture!!!!   She finally made it from the side of the mountain to a real COUCH!!!!  :-)   She looks happy with her accomplishments!

9/2/10 - Please HELP Duchess!!!

We were alerted to a lovely b/m red female living in a Korean Shelter named Duchess.  She is matted and covered in ticks, and lives back on the side of a mountain without much human contact.  We are trying to help her get to the US and to a wonderful loving indoor home.  We are accepting donations to help with her shipping costs and veterinary bills once in the US.
